Tignes
Serre Chevalier has built a cult reputation amongst snowboarders.
A natural playground of open bowls, gullies, hits, trees and man
made terrain parks, it's not hard to see why. That said, with
250km of piste, two thirds of which are tree lined, north facing
slopes to suit all standards, it's surprising it hasn't attained
the same popularity with skiers.
In fact it has, with French skiers, but the British overlook
it in favour of the Tarentaise resorts. It may be a longer drive
from the UK. It has had some erratic snow falls over recent years
but historically Serre Chevalier holds the snow well and has increased
its snowmaking on the lower slopes significantly in recent years.
